We work with traditional, spontaneously created, and personal stories. These workshops are informative, participatory and lots of fun.
“So much positive feedback from our teaching artists and staff about your PD Wednesday! Your exercises were useful, engaging and rich in learning opportunities for students and creative expansion for teachers. Thank you for putting together something so thoughtful and connected.”

FOLKTALES AND STORYTELLING IN THE ESOL/LITERACY CLASSROOM
Storytelling is a marvelous vehicle for teaching ESL/EFL, language arts in general, and literacy. These highly participatory workshops focus on telling stories and creating creative, communicative classroom activities with them. Folk tales support the practice of the “four skills” (listening, speaking, reading and writing), teach vocabulary, functions, and grammar while encouraging community building, cross cultural awareness and personal expression.
Regina's well organized workshops, while being informal and very engaging, have been densely packed with information and practical, hands on activities that teach language skills through Storytelling, Music, and Visual Art...She has a unique understanding of how to both teach curriculum and engage the imagination and multiple intelligences of her students.

BEING CAPTURED BY THE TROLL
and Other Learning Opportunities
Stories serve as brilliant springboards into the exploration of the challenges, joys, and lessons of life. One major archetype is the “troll”….the creature that lies in wait to capture us and use us for its purposes. In this workshop we explore being waylaid by the troll (external or internal); losing our sense of self; allies who help us remember our true selves; and the courage, resilience and persistence it takes to find our way home.
ADI, SONG OF AGAN: WORKING WITH THE LONG, POETIC “OTHER”
Adi, Song of Agan is a magnificent example of oral literature from the indigenous peoples of Borneo. In this workshop/showcase, Regina tells portions and discusses working with long poetic material and the challenges of editing and performing it for American audiences while maintaining the intentions of the original culture. There is participatory discussion on finding ways into this and other complex and (seemingly) alien material in this presentation for tellers and teachers interested in such difficult material.
BILINGUAL STORYTELLING TO MULTICULTURAL AUDIENCES:
HOW TO MAKE YOUR LITTLE BIT OF LANGUAGE GO A LONG WAY
Open up your storytelling to the wonderful diversity of language that enriches our world. Without being fluent, a storyteller can incorporate words and phrases of the original language in to the telling of a tale, adding flavor and texture that deepens the story experience. We look at where to add, how to add, and how to invite the audience to share the language as we share world tales with them.

OF MOTHERS AND DAUGHTERS
A WOMAN’S COUNCIL For nearly two thousand years, the mysteries of Demeter and Persephone were at the center of Mediterranean spirituality. Demeter was the Greek Goddess of Grain, her daughter, Persephone, was a young maiden snatched away to be the wife of Hades, Lord of the Underworld.
With the myth of Demeter and Persephone as the core of the work, we explore the archetypes of Mother and Daughter through their story, our own stories, visual art and song. Regina has led this and other Women’s Councils exploring our Selves in relation to the stories of a wide range of Goddesses at The NY Open Center, Temenos Retreat Center, Rana’s Farm and other locations.
Information on Councils available upon request.
